Another acclaimed author has joined the Hogarth Shakespeare project: 鈥淕one Girl鈥 writer Gillian Flynn.

For the series, modern-day authors choose one of Shakespeare鈥檚 tales to retell, and Flynn says she鈥檚 selected 鈥淗amlet.鈥

鈥淗amlet聽has long been a fascination of mine: murder, betrayal, revenge, deceit, madness 鈥 all my favorite things," Flynn said in a statement. "Add to that some of Shakespeare鈥檚 most intriguing, curious characters 鈥 from the titular brooding prince to rueful Ophelia 鈥 and what (slightly cheeky) writer wouldn鈥檛 be tempted to reimagine it?鈥

Flynn joins authors such as Margaret Atwood, Anne Tyler, and Tracy Chevalier on the project. Hogarth, an imprint of Random House, will begin to publish the new takes on Shakespeare鈥檚 stories in 2016, the 400th聽anniversary of the death of the Bard. Other writers鈥 choices include Atwood selecting 鈥淭he Tempest,鈥 Tyler choosing 鈥淭he Taming of the Shrew,鈥 and Chevalier taking on 鈥淥thello.鈥
