Rainbow Rowell鈥檚 bestselling young adult novel 鈥淓leanor & Park鈥 is reportedly coming to the big screen.
The movie of 鈥淓leanor鈥 will be released by DreamWorks Studios and Rowell will be writing the screenplay for the film, according to Entertainment Weekly.
鈥淓very girl who has read it says, 鈥楾hat was me in high school, or 'That was me in 7th grade,'" DreamWorks president of production Holly Bario said of the protagonist of Rowell鈥檚 novel in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. 鈥淚t reminded all of us of our own sort of awkwardness, or family dysfunction.鈥
According to EW, DreamWorks hopes to begin filming the movie in 2015.
鈥淓leanor鈥 was released in 2013 and is still at number 10 on the New York Times Young Adult bestseller list for the week of April 6. Monitor young adult fiction critic Katie W. Beim-Esche called Rowell鈥檚 novel 鈥渋ntense and lyrical鈥 and writes that Rowell 鈥渨rites with the witty wonderment of someone experiencing love for the first time鈥 with a 鈥渕arvelous, clear voice.鈥
鈥淥bservant,鈥 Beim-Esche wrote. 鈥淚ncisive. Tense, yet buoyant with hope. 鈥楨leanor & Park鈥 is constructed like a Swiss watch: tightly knit and perfectly paced. This book is well-deserving of its status as 2013鈥檚 best young adult novel.鈥
