Will the grand finale of HBO鈥檚 鈥淕ame of Thrones鈥 TV series be a movie?

鈥淕ame of Thrones鈥 author George R.R. Martin discussed the idea in a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter. According to HR writer Tatiana Siegel, Martin said the project is 鈥渂eing actively discussed.鈥

鈥淚t all depends on how long the main series runs," Martin said of the idea. "Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10?聽The books get bigger and bigger. It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know.鈥

His comment comes after 鈥淭hrones鈥 showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss told Entertainment Weekly that they envisioned the show ending after seven seasons.

鈥淚t feels like this is the midpoint for us,鈥 Benioff said when discussing the show鈥檚 upcoming season, which will be its fourth. 鈥淚f we鈥檙e going to go seven seasons, which is the plan, season 4 is right down the middle, the pivot point.鈥澛

Martin has currently written five books in the 鈥淪ong of Ice and Fire鈥 series and has stated that the series will most likely consist of seven books. The fifth book, 鈥淎 Dance with Dragons,鈥 was released in 2011.

The fourth season of 鈥淭hrones鈥 premieres on April 6.
