'Unbroken' trailer gives a glimpse into the inspirational WWII story

'Unbroken' centers on Louis Zamperini, a former Olympic athlete who was captured by the Japanese during World War II.

A trailer for the film adaptation of Laura Hillenbrand鈥檚 World War II nonfiction bestseller has been released.

鈥淯nbroken,鈥 which is being directed by Angelina Jolie, stars 鈥淎bout Time鈥 actor Domhnall Gleeson and 鈥淚nside Llewyn Davis鈥 actor Garrett Hedlund.

Hillenbrand鈥檚 book was first released in 2010 and tells the story of a lieutenant and Olympic track runner (he participated in the 1936 Berlin Olympics), Louis Zamperini (Jack O鈥機onnell), whose plane crashes in the Pacific and who along with Russell Allen Phillips (Gleeson), who was on the plane with him, is captured by members of the Japanese navy.

The new trailer debuted during the Sochi Olympics and is narrated by Tom Brokaw. It includes glimpses of the real Zamperini as well as clips from the movie.

鈥淯nbroken鈥 is set to hit theaters on Dec. 25.
