Lifetime develops TV adaptation of 'Flowers in the Attic' sequel 'Petals on the Wind'

Lifetime's remake of 'Flowers' has yet to air, but the network announced it's already developing an adaptation of the second novel in 'Flowers' author V.C. Andrews' series.

Lifetime鈥檚 TV remake of the V.C. Andrews novel 鈥淔lowers in the Attic鈥 hasn鈥檛 even aired yet, but the network is already developing a sequel.

鈥淔lowers鈥 will air Jan. 18, and in the meantime, Lifetime is developing a TV version of the second book in Andrews鈥 series, which is titled 鈥淧etals on the Wind.鈥 鈥淔lowers鈥 was released in 1979 and 鈥淧etals" followed in 1980, with Andrews penning five books about the Dollanganger family altogether.

Kayla Alpert, who wrote the adaptation of 鈥淔lowers,鈥 said 鈥淧etals鈥 is 鈥渁 very juicy and compelling revenge drama,鈥 according to Entertainment Weekly.

鈥淢ad Men鈥 actress Kiernan Shipka portrays protagonist Cathy in Lifetime鈥檚 upcoming version of 鈥淔lowers,鈥 while actress Heather Graham portrays her mother and Ellen Burstyn plays her grandmother.

The novel was previously adapted into a film starring Kristy Swanson and Victoria Tennant in 1987. It was met with some controversy from fans because it left out the incestuous relationship between Cathy and her brother Chris, which is a large part of the book.
