鈥淭he Da Vinci Code鈥� author Dan Brown鈥檚 newest novel 鈥淚nferno鈥� is Amazon鈥檚 bestselling adult book of 2013.聽
On Amazon鈥檚 list of the bestselling titles for the past year, 鈥淎nd the Mountains Echoed鈥� by 鈥淭he Kite Runner鈥� writer Khaled Hosseini is in second place behind 鈥淚nferno.鈥� J.K. Rowling鈥檚 mystery written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, titled 鈥淭he Cuckoo鈥檚 Calling,鈥� stands at number three while the novel 鈥淭he Husband鈥檚 Secret鈥� by Liane Moriarty comes in at fourth.
The top nonfiction title on the list is Sheryl Sandberg鈥檚 鈥淟ean In,鈥� which places fifth on the list. 鈥淭he Hit鈥� by David Baldacci comes in sixth, with John Grisham鈥檚 鈥淪ycamore Row鈥� in seventh place. 鈥淓ntwined With You鈥� by Sylvia Day ranks eighth, 鈥淣ever Go Back鈥� by Lee Child ninth, and 鈥淭he Storyteller鈥� by Jodi Picoult places tenth.
Amazon also released its top-selling children鈥檚 titles for the year, a category which includes young adult fiction. 鈥淎llegiant鈥� by Veronica Roth, the conclusion to her 鈥淒ivergent鈥� trilogy, places first on that list, followed by the newest installment in Rick Riordan鈥檚 mythology books, 鈥淭he House of Hades.鈥� Jeff Kinney鈥檚 book 鈥淒iary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck,鈥� the newest book in his 鈥淒iary鈥� series, places third, followed by 鈥淩ush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims鈥� by Rush Limbaugh and 鈥淣ever Too Far鈥� by Abbi Glines. 鈥淣ever鈥� is the second in Glines鈥� young adult series that centers on a romance between two stepsiblings, a teenage girl who works at a country club and a boy who is the child of a rock star. Glines is also the author of other young adult romance series. Two other titles in the same series by Glines, 鈥淔orever Too Far鈥� and 鈥淭wisted Perfection,鈥� stand at eighth and ninth respectively on the children鈥檚 bestselling list.
Last year, the third book in E.L. James鈥� 鈥淔ifty Shades of Grey鈥� trilogy, 鈥淔ifty Shades Freed,鈥� was the number one seller for 2012. (By contrast, Day鈥檚 鈥淓ntwined with You鈥� is the only erotic fiction book to make the top 10 for this year.) 鈥淕one Girl鈥� by Gillian Flynn came in at number two, followed by 鈥淔ifty Shades of Grey,鈥� Day鈥檚 鈥淏ared to You.鈥� The only nonfiction title in the top five on the 2012 list was 鈥淣o Easy Day鈥� by Mark Owen.
Day, Grisham, and Baldacci are the only two authors to place in the top 10 two years in a row, with Grisham鈥檚 鈥淭he Racketeer鈥� coming in at number eight last year and Baldacci鈥檚 鈥淭he Innocent鈥� placing at number 10.
