Actor Jim Carrey is turning his attention to children鈥檚 literature with his new book, which will be released Sept. 24.

The book, which is dedicated to his grandson, is titled 鈥淗ow Roland Rolls.鈥澛

Carrey told Publishers Weekly he鈥檚 found writing extremely rewarding.

鈥淭here鈥檚 more joy and fulfillment in this project than I could have dreamed,鈥 he said.

The book centers on Roland, a wave who learns he is part of something bigger by being a piece of the large ocean. Carrey said he wanted to write the story to address children鈥檚 questions about life and death.

鈥淚 want the book to alleviate children鈥檚 fears about loss and what would happen to them if they were left alone,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an early existential crisis, one that I experienced as a child when I was afraid that my parents would die. But when we realize that beneath the surface of things 鈥 the activities of our lives 鈥 we are all connected, that fear of loss gets softened.鈥

The e-book version of 鈥淩oland鈥 will have four songs performed by Carrey and his daughter, Jane. 鈥淩oland鈥 is being released by the actor鈥檚 company Some Kind of Garden Media.

Carrey recently appeared in the 2013 comedy 鈥淭he Incredible Burt Wonderstone鈥 and also starred in a film adaptation of a classic children鈥檚 book, the 2011 movie 鈥淢r. Popper鈥檚 Penguins,鈥 as well as a 2009 film adaptation of 鈥淎 Christmas Carol.鈥 In 2004, he took on the role of villainous Count Olaf in the movie adaptation of 鈥淟emony Snicket鈥檚 A Series of Unfortunate Events,鈥 and he told PW he 鈥渓oved the series. I鈥檇 very much look forward to a film sequel.鈥 (A sequel has not been announced.)
