Writer Caroline B. Cooney spun the story of Janie Jones, who recognizes her own face on the side of a milk carton, in her 1990 book 鈥淭he Face on the Milk Carton.鈥 Twenty-three years later, her five-part series is set to end this January with the publication of the fifth book in the series, 鈥淛anie Face to Face.鈥

Publishers Weekly said of 鈥淭he Face on the Milk Carton" when it was first published that the book had 鈥渟trong characterizations and suspenseful, impeccably paced action."

鈥淭he roller-coaster ride Jane experiences with her emotions is both absorbing and convincing,鈥 the review continued.

To celebrate the end of the series, the publisher, Delacorte, has released an e-book compilation of excerpts of the first four novels in the series, which is titled 鈥淛anie Series Ebook Sampler.鈥 The sampler will also include a preview of Cooney鈥檚 fifth book and is free.

Cooney also released a new short story titled 鈥淲hat Janie Saw鈥 in e-book format his past spring.
