The Baz Luhrmann adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald鈥檚 classic novel 鈥淭he Great Gatsby鈥 is moving its release date from Christmas of this year to sometime in the summer of 2013, according to its studio Warner Bros.
鈥淚t truly brings Fitzgerald's American classic to life in a completely immersive, visually stunning and exciting way,鈥 said Warner Bros. Pictures president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman in a statement. 鈥淲e think moviegoers of all ages are going to embrace it, and it makes sense to ensure this unique film reaches the largest audience possible.鈥
Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, the president of international distribution for Warner Bros. Pictures, said response from test screenings had been positive.
鈥淲e think 'The Great Gatsby' will be the perfect summer movie around the world," she said.
鈥淕atsby鈥 is directed by 鈥淢oulin Rouge!鈥 director Baz Luhrmann and will star actor Leonardo DiCaprio as the titular character, 鈥淒rive鈥 actress Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, and 鈥淪pider-Man鈥 actor Tobey Maguire as the story鈥檚 narrator Nick Carraway. It will be released in 3-D.
