I very recently finished reading Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher: The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis by Timothy Egan. This biography of a man obsessed tells not only the story of his life but perhaps more importantly the story of our treatment of the vanishing culture of the North American Indian.
