By Julie Foskett, Edmonds, Wash.

A long overdue reread of the thought-provoking mid-19th century English novel, The Way of All Flesh, told in elegant prose by master writer Samuel Butler, was worth every absorbing minute of it. It's a loosely autobiographical depiction of a sore journey out of ecclesiasticism鈥檚 cruel and hypocritical demands, to a liberating discovery of mankind's inherent ability to find peace within itself.聽聽
