As a staff member, April served as Books editor and as Monitor Weekly deputy editor from 2019 to March 2026.
April returned to the Monitor in 2018 after a 12-year absence that included studying landscape design and freelance writing on the subjects of art and design. She served as communications coordinator at Harvard University鈥檚 Wiener Center for Social Policy at the Kennedy School, senior marketing writer at Lesley University, and senior writer at Education Development Center.
Her history with the Monitor began when she was hired as a 鈥渃opy kid鈥� or clerk in newsroom in the summer of 1984. Her previous roles include editor of these sections: Arts & Culture, Learning, and The Home Forum. She also edited in National and International News.
She is a graduate of Principia College with a BA in drama and a minor in political science.
