John Lithgow and Alfred Molina have a marvelous, easygoing聽chemistry in Ira Sachs鈥檚 鈥淟ove聽Is聽Strange,鈥 playing a long-term gay聽couple who get married only to find themselves suddenly living apart聽when George (Molina), a music teacher at a New York parochial school,聽is聽fired聽from his job. Encamped in separate households until they can cobble聽together the resources for a new apartment, the two men intermittently聽reunite while trying to cope with their disruptive new living arrangements.聽

The living-apart scenario聽is聽contrived 鈥 there was no way for these men to聽share a space somewhere? 鈥 but the two actors are so good that it doesn鈥檛聽much matter. Grade:聽B+ (Rated R for language.)
