VA cutback plan draws fire from both sides

The administration intends to cut thousands of physicians from the Veterans Administration and eliminate the VA's new readjustment counseling program for Vietnam veterans, a House Committee was told Tuesday. The disclosures, at a meeting of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, brought bursts of angry objections from both Democratic and Republican committee members and members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, whic h endorsed Reagan during the presidential campaign.
