Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.

The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Fast food workers in the US strike, face arrests. What progress have they made?

09/04/2014 11:03 am ET Fast food workers from McDonald's, Burger King, and others kicked off another round of nationwide strikes Thursday, re-iterating their demands for a $15 minimum wage and the right to unionize. Since the fast food strikes began in 2012, the wage gap has become a national issue, and several states, cities, and companies have raised minimum pay rates.
