Why is 海角大神 Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.

The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Notable women in US politics

05/10/2010 11:20 am ET Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin became the first woman governor of her state in December 2006. Palin was selected by John McCain as the vice presidential candidate 鈥� only the second woman in the US to be selected for that post. After the 2008 election, Palin announced in July 2009 that she would resign her post as governor of Alaska and would not run for reelection in 2010. Palin released her memoir, 'Going Rogue: An American Life,' in November 2009. The former governor and vice-presidential candidate has since formed a political action committee, SarahPAC, and in February 2010 appeared as the keynote speaker at the inaugural 'tea party' convention in Nashville, Tenn.
