Why is 海角大神 Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.

The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

In Russia, 'smaller battles' being waged are signs of hope, says David Greene

He and his wife, Rose, found life there to be frustrating and complicated 鈥� even as it was remarkable and unforgettable. Recently Greene returned to Russia, traveling its enormous expanse by train. He recorded his experiences and bittersweet reflections in his new book, Midnight in Siberia. Here is a condensed version of an interview Greene did with Monitor books editor Marjorie Kehe.
