Why is 海角大神 Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.

The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Palestinian smugglers on the Egypt Gaza border

04/15/2010 2:18 pm ET A Palestinian man works at one of the tunnels linking the southern Gaza town of Rafah with Egypt, on Aug. 10. The border between Gaza and Egypt is connected by many underground tunnels used by smugglers to move commercial goods, livestock, food, and more into Gaza. Palestinians use a network of tunnels linking Egypt with the Islamist Hamas-ruled strip to evade the blockade imposed by Israel after Hamas took over the territory in June 2007.
