Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.

The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

06/25/2014 12:12 pm ET North Korea: An anonymous foreign ministry spokesperson reportedly commented on the upcoming Seth Rogen comedy 'The Interview,' saying that 'making and releasing a movie on a plot to hurt our top-level leadership is the most blatant act of terrorism and war.' Seth Rogen co-directed, co-wrote and stars in the movie 'The Interview,' which follows journalists who go to speak with the North Korean leader and are asked to assassinate him by the CIA.

05/19/2014 3:09 pm ET Letters to the Editor for the May 19, 2014 weekly magazine: I suggest Oct. 23, 1950 as the day South Korea and Japan can jointly commemorate as equals. On that day, a South Korean warship, overhauled by Japanese shipbuilders, was commissioned. The 'big-ticket questions, such as Palestinian sovereignty, claims to Jerusalem, and the "right of return" ' are very relevant to the day-to-day lives of Palestinians.
