As part of its Integrated Cybersecurity Studies program, the Robert Strauss Center at the University of Texas-Austin will host a unique and timely conference focused on the legal and policy dimensions of cybersecurity.

Passcode will join the conference on Friday, February 5th. The day's events will include a symposium bringing together technologists, government officials, privacy advocates, and scholars to discuss four cutting-edge topics: the aftermath of the 鈥済oing dark鈥 debate; the evolving regulatory environment for the rapidly-growing security-research sector including export controls; the prospects for private entities to engage in 鈥渁ctive defense鈥 of their networks including the 鈥渉ackback鈥 debate; and botnet takedowns.

Strauss Center for International Security and Law聽is a research unit designed to bring an interdisciplinary perspective to bear on public-policy questions relating to security and international relations. Among other programs, the Strauss Center sponsors the聽聽project, which aims to integrate insights from computer science and engineering with insights from law, business administration, security studies, other non-STEM disciplines.听The Center sponsors a wide array of research programs and educational initiatives,聽which are described in detail聽.
