'Nakba Day' protests: What regional leaders said

Protests erupted on Israel鈥檚 borders and throughout East Jerusalem and the West Bank on Sunday as Palestinians marked the 63rd anniversary of Israel鈥檚 independence, which they refer to as the 鈥渘akba,鈥 or catastrophe. Here is a roundup of notable statements:

Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hezbollah

:

"鈥橶e must bow before the courage, the valor, of those who protested yesterday at Lebanon and Syria鈥檚 borders with occupied Palestine, who faced the tyranny of the enemy with bare chests and their heads held high,鈥 Nasrallah said.

鈥榊ou have proven to both friend and foe [alike] that commitment to your rights is non-negotiable, won鈥檛 be forgotten and won鈥檛 be wasted, and that your return to your homes, your land and holy places are your right and goal,鈥 he added.

鈥榊our message is loud and clear to the enemy that you are determined to liberate the land no matter what the sacrifices [might be] and that the fate of this entity [Israel] is demise, and that no initiatives, treaties or borders will protect it,鈥 Nasrallah said, adding that the return of Palestinians refugees was 鈥榗loser than any time before.鈥"
