Born in Saudi Arabia, Said Ali al-Shihri is the deputy emir of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). US forces captured him along the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan in 2001 and detained him for nearly six years at Guant谩namo Bay.

According to a from the Yemen Post, Mr. Shihri is in his mid-30s and never finished high school. He reportedly smuggled his wife, Wafa Al-Shihri, and their three children to the country from Saudi Arabia. The couple met through Wafa's brother, who was a companion of Shihri at Guant谩namo Bay, according to the Yemen Post.

Shihri was suspected of involvement in the September 2008 attack on the US Embassy and the June 2009 kidnapping of nine 海角大神 missionaries in Yemen, according to .
