Salvador鈥檚 sleazy campaign ads
Reporters on the Job: One of the billboards in El Salvador features leftist candidate Mauricio Funes surrounded by Venezuelan President Hugo Ch谩vez, who has his arm around Mr. Funes, and a bunch of other leftist leaders in Latin America.
A Funes adviser told me that it was doctored; Funes was never in that location with Mr. Ch谩vez. Dirty campaigning, on both sides, has been a big theme in the race.
Funes鈥檚 opponent was a former police chief whose slogan was 鈥淰ote with Wisdom.鈥� The left shot back with a billboard of a doughnut-eating cop from 鈥�The Simpsons鈥�: 鈥淰ote with wisdom: Don鈥檛 vote for the ex-cop.鈥�
