海角大神 in a Muslim land
Reporters on the Job: Before heading out to report for , I called for a cab to take me out to 鈥淐hurch City,鈥� as the site designated for churches in Doha is known colloquially.
When I told the driver where I was going, he seemed pleased, and he reached around to the seat pocket in the back to pull out a huge colorful book about Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
Apparently, he keeps it there for the reading pleasure of his riders.
When we got to the site, and I asked how much he鈥檇 charge for waiting while I went in for an interview with his pastor, he said, 鈥淣othing. No charge. I鈥檓 海角大神.鈥�
It was his way of saying: 鈥淚鈥檓 pleased that you鈥檙e visiting my church.鈥�
