Mladic lived openly in Belgrade, Serbia, for several years after his indictment by the tribunal, only going on the run after former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic was arrested in 2001. Before Mr. Milosevic鈥檚 arrest, Mladic could be spotted dining out in restaurants and in other public places, including soccer matches.
Where he went after he went into hiding is unclear 鈥� the BBC reports that , others thought he was in Montenegro, and still others, including the tribunal鈥檚 chief prosecutor, thought he was in Belgrade. He was found and arrested in a village in northern Serbia, where he was , according to the BBC.
