Abbottabad is known as the home to the Pakistani Military Academy, the country鈥檚 version of West Point, as well as a military base. According to sources in the city who spoke to the Monitor, the firefight that ended with the capture of bin Laden鈥檚 body occurred only 800 yards from the military school 鈥� placing Bin Laden's secret compound only minutes from a high concentration of Pakistani military officials.
