Many pundits have attributed Ford鈥檚 2010 electoral victory to a deep disconnect between 鈥渄owntown鈥� city voters, who tend to vote liberal, and 鈥渟uburban鈥� city voters, who tend to be more conservative in their outlook. That could help explain why polls continue to show that, notwithstanding Ford's less-than-professional behavior, remains supportive of him staying in office until the next elections or he is legally removed.
Illustrating at least one aspect of his persistent popularity, Ford attended a game Sunday of the Toronto Argonauts, the city鈥檚 professional Canadian Football League team, and was given what the Globe and Mail newspaper called 鈥渞ock star treatment鈥� by fans. As one voter told The Associated Press over the weekend: "Yes, he is an embarrassment, but not a thief.鈥�
