Donald Trump is gunning for the White House 鈥� and this time, he means it.

The billionaire businessman and reality-TV star officially announced his bid for the presidency Tuesday from the lobby of Trump Tower in New York City, ending what the Guardian noted was聽聽of false starts.聽

Following a grand entrance via escalator, Mr. Trump introduced his campaign slogan, 鈥淢ake America great again,鈥� then launched into an unusual, about his plans for facing the nation鈥檚 most hot-button issues.

Take immigration. 鈥淚 will build a great, great wall on our southern border and I will have Mexico pay for that wall,鈥� he told his audience, who filled three floors of the building. 鈥淢ark my words.鈥�

He also gave his two cents on the Islamic State group. 鈥淚slamic terrorism is eating up large portions of the Middle East,鈥� Trump said. 鈥淣obody would be tougher on ISIS than Donald Trump.鈥�

And, of course, he took on 鈥渢he big lie鈥� that is Obamacare and its $5 billion website: 鈥淚t鈥檚 a disaster 鈥� To this day it doesn鈥檛 work,鈥� Trump said, adding, 鈥淚 have so many websites all over the place. I hire people, they do a website, it costs $3.鈥�

He also said the US was losing to other nations, such as Japan and China.

鈥淲hen was the last time anybody saw us beating, let鈥檚 say, China, in a trade deal?鈥� he asked. 鈥淐hina is killing us.鈥�

At the same time, Trump vowed to be 鈥渢he greatest jobs president that God ever created鈥� 鈥� the opposite, he implied, of President Obama, whom Trump called 鈥渁 bad negotiator.鈥�

Trump also addressed his own wealth and success, citing them as proof of his ability as a leader.

鈥淚 don鈥檛 need anybody鈥檚 money ... I鈥檓 really rich,鈥� he said. A team of accountants has calculated his total net worth to be more than $8 billion, he added, with assets of more than $9.2 billion.

鈥淭hat鈥檚 the kind of mindset you need for this country,鈥� Trump said. 鈥淲e have the opposite thinking. We have losers 鈥� We have people that are morally corrupt.鈥�

The聽announcement was an event unlike any the GOP has seen, : a full-on production, complete with gossip reporters, a Broadway soundtrack, and people waving signs that read, 鈥淒onald, we need YOU!!!鈥� Despite the fanfare, however, Trump does face a few challenges on the road to the White House.聽

For one thing, as of noon on Tuesday, he had yet to file paperwork regarding his candidacy or finances, leaving him 15 days to do so, according to Politico.

Then there鈥檚 the question of whether he can win any actual voters.

鈥淒onald Trump has a -27 percentage point net favorable rating ... Among Republicans,鈥� FiveThirtyEight polling expert Harry Enten tweeted on Monday. 鈥淵ea, he鈥檚 going far.鈥�

But don't count out The Donald just yet: some experts say Trump鈥檚 showmanship and mockery of the political process could work in his favor.

鈥淭here are substantial parts of the American population who think it鈥檚 already a joke 鈥� that it鈥檚 fundamentally not on the level,鈥� GOP strategist Steve Schmidt . 鈥淎 candidate like [Trump] has a potential to tap into that in a pretty powerful way. No doubt about it.鈥�
