Michelle Obama is the first lady of the United States and wife of President Barack Obama.
Born in 1964, Mrs. Obama grew up in Chicago and attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School. She subsequently worked for a Chicago law firm, where she met Mr. Obama. They began to date, and they married in 1992. The couple has two daughters, Sasha and Malia, born in 1998 and 2001, respectively.
In 2007 and 2008 she campaigned in support of her husband鈥檚 presidential bid, and in 2008 she gave the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention.
As first lady, Mrs. Obama has gained international fame. In 2006 Essence listed her among 鈥�25 of the World鈥檚 Most Inspiring Women鈥� and in 2007 Vanity Fair listed her as 鈥�10 of the World鈥檚 Best Dressed People.鈥� Mrs. Obama champions several causes, including 鈥淟et鈥檚 Move!鈥�, a campaign to fight childhood obesity and encourage exercise.
