Sarah Palin versus 鈥60 Minutes鈥 鈥 it鈥檚 on! You betcha.
Ex-governor of Alaska, ex-VP candidate, and newly installed Fox News personality, Sarah Palin, on Tuesday night blasted the venerable CBS News flagship for a report on her that she labeled 鈥淏S."
鈥淚 had been warned not to watch it,鈥 said Ms. Palin of the 鈥60 Minutes鈥 segment in question.
That segment dealt with a new book on the campaign that alleges, among other things, that Palin did not know why North and South Korea are two different countries.
鈥淭hat is a lie,鈥 said Palin.
Host Bill O鈥橰eilly of 鈥淭he O鈥橰eilly Factor鈥 said that Palin couldn鈥檛 have bested Vice President Biden in a debate if she were really that dumb, and offered her his show as a base for future anti-鈥60 Minutes鈥 offensives.
鈥淵ou now have a forum here at Fox News where you can immediately neutralize 鈥60 Minutes鈥,鈥 Mr. O鈥橰eilly said.
Outside of this metaphorical lining up of media armies, Palin鈥檚 appearance was fairly unremarkable, though not what you鈥檇 call hyper-articulate. (At one point she talked about 鈥渦ncomfortableness鈥 with administration policies.)
Palin said that Obama鈥檚 poll numbers are falling because Americans don鈥檛 feel as safe as they did, and don鈥檛 like health care reform, and have finally figured out what Obama stands for.
鈥淭his is not the representative government we thought we鈥檇 voted in,鈥 she said.
She criticized recent comments made by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid about the president鈥檚 race. 鈥淎 lot of us don鈥檛 think along those lines that somebody鈥檚 skin tone would be a criteria for president,鈥 she said.
O鈥橰eilly, as his style, kept stomping on the end of her answers to ask further questions, such as what she would do about Iran.
鈥淭he time for talking about sanctions, we have passed that,鈥 said Palin, though she added later that 鈥渙bviously we need to adhere to those sanctions ... a military attack needs to be our very last option鈥.
Palin also said she was 鈥渟o thankful for the tea party movement鈥, and added that she would not gain financially from addressing an upcoming tea party event.
O鈥橰eilly then asked how she felt her first appearance as a Fox contributor had gone.
鈥淚 couldn鈥檛 ask for anything better. I was with the big man on campus,鈥 she said.
鈥淲ho鈥檚 that?鈥 said O鈥橰eilly, milking the moment. (His program dominates the other news shows in that time slot, after all.)
鈥淏ill O鈥橰eilly,鈥 said Palin.
