Republican Mike Lee beat Democratic candidate Sam Granato after the current senator, Republican Robert Bennett, failed to get the support needed to receive the Republican nomination. Mr. Lee, who formerly worked as an assistant US attorney, won by a 28.8 percentage point margin, taking all but Summit County in Utah. He is endorsed by Freedom Works Political Action Committee, the tea party group led by former Republican House majority leader Dick Armey.
