Towson cheerleader hazing resulting in suspension involved alcohol, diapers

The report says the hazing by the Towson University cheerleaders took place on July 31, 2013, when new freshmen were invited to an off-campus apartment during cheer camp.

An internal investigation conducted by a Baltimore-area university concluded that its聽cheerleading聽team聽hazed聽new members by giving them alcohol and telling them to wear adult diapers.

The report says the聽hazing聽by the聽Towson聽University聽cheerleaders聽took place on July 31, 2013, when new freshmen were invited to an off-campus apartment during cheer camp.

The report was obtained by The Associated Press through a Freedom of Information Act request. Dated April 17, it was first published by The Baltimore Sun.

According to the report, veteran聽cheerleaders聽blindfolded freshmen team members, gave them a choice of doing a shot of liquor or funneling a beer, and instructed them to wear adult diapers over their聽cheerleading聽shorts.

University officials ordered an investigation last August after receiving an anonymous call about the聽hazing.
