RIP Neil Armstrong: Memorial marks one-year anniversary of his death

Neil Armstrong died August 25, 2012, 43 years after walking on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission. A year later, a stone and a tree have been dedicated to his memory.

A 300-pound granite stone dedicated to the memory of the late astronaut聽Neil聽Armstrong has been placed at the Cincinnati Observatory Center.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports聽that聽Armstrong's聽family also there Sunday to mark the anniversary of his death. The observatory promotes astronomy and the study of science.

The Ohio native died last year at age 82, and the former Navy fighter pilot was later buried at sea. In 1969, he became the first man to walk on the moon.

The memorial stone states: "By reaching for the stars, you might just land on the moon."
