Airport explosion causes delays out of Atlanta airport

Airport explosion: A small explosion at Atlanta's international airport caused brief power outage and delayed about 35 flights, say airport officials.

A small聽explosion聽and power outage at a concourse of Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International聽Airport聽was likely caused by a malfunctioning power supply unit Tuesday morning,聽airport officials said.

Passengers were allowed to return to their gates at the聽airport聽after an electrical聽explosion聽at a maintenance shop knocked out some power to one of the concourses, authorities said. No one was injured.

The聽explosion聽happened around 8:40 a.m. at a maintenance shop near Gate D 21, said聽airport聽spokesman Reese McCranie.

McCranie said there was no fire, but the聽explosion聽caused what he described as some "minor property damage."
