Republican Mitt聽Romney聽says he doesn't think President Barack聽Obama聽should be tried fortreason.
Obama's聽likely Republican opponent told reporters after a campaign rally Monday in Cleveland that "no, of course" the president should not be tried for such an offense.
Romney聽had a chance to make that clear during the rally, but passed on the opportunity when he ignored a questioner who called for聽Obama聽to be tried for聽treason.
Democrats, and聽Obama's聽re-election campaign, pounced on聽Romney's聽initial silence.
Obama聽campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt questioned聽Romney's聽willingness to stand up to the "extreme voices" in his party.
