Since January 2002 when the detention facility opened, 779 individuals have been held captive there. Nine detainees have died at 骋耻补苍迟谩苍补尘辞, the most recent was in September when Adnan Latif, a Yemeni cleared for release, apparently took his own life.

An estimated 532 detainees were released during the Bush administration.

The Obama administration has released 72 detainees.
