The Fox News commentator got taken to task over his comments, immediately following Ann Romney鈥檚 speech, that she sounded like a 鈥渃orporate wife鈥� and that she didn鈥檛 convince him that she understood the struggles of American women.
鈥淭he stories she told about struggle 鈥� it鈥檚 hard for me to believe,鈥� Mr. William said. 鈥淪he鈥檚 a very rich woman, and I know that and America knows that.鈥�
Innocuous enough 鈥� and Williams was surely not the only person to respond that way to Mrs. Romney鈥檚 attempt to talk about the price at the pump, single dads, working moms, and parents who are lying awake at night 鈥渨ondering how they'll be able to pay the mortgage or make the rent.鈥�
But his 鈥渃orporate wife鈥� characterization, apparently, went over the top. Fellow commentators and twitterers jumped on him.
鈥淲hat鈥檚 with Juan William鈥檚 War on Women?鈥� tweeted Dennis Miller, while conservative commentator Michelle Malkin was even harsher. 鈥淎nn Romney = Class, Juan Williams = [rhyming expletive],鈥� she tweeted.
Of course, some of the conservatives jumping on Williams now are the same ones who defended him two years ago when NPR fired Williams for his statements about feeling nervous when he sees people in 鈥淢uslim garb鈥� getting on airplanes.
