As governor of New Mexico, Susana Martinez is the first Hispanic woman in America to be elected chief executive of a state. That potentially helps Romney with two groups 鈥� women and Latinos 鈥� with whom he鈥檚 been hurting.
New Mexico may also be in play as a swing state.
On the other hand, the Republican Party鈥檚 track record with relatively inexperienced, little-known female governors as a VP candidate isn鈥檛 so great 鈥� and Romney may not be keen to make a choice that so readily invites comparisons to Sarah Palin.
