A popular governor in Louisiana, Bobby Jindal is another possibility who would give Romney some regional balance to his ticket (as well as racial diversity, as the first Indian-American on a presidential ticket).
He has solid health-care credentials 鈥� while still opposing an individual mandate to buy insurance 鈥� potentially helping Romney with a weakness in the eyes of some Republican voters.
He鈥檚 a solid conservative who is well liked by many far-right Republicans, and he is another on the list of possible future GOP presidential candidates (and one whom some in the party wish had run this year).
On the downside: Governor Jindal鈥檚 response to the 2009 State of the Union address 鈥� the last time he spoke to a major national audience 鈥� was widely considered a flop.
