In an with the website CaffeinatedThoughts.com, Santorum shared his views on birth control, which are in keeping with the teachings of his Catholic faith.
鈥淥ne of the things I will talk about that no president has talked about before is the dangers of contraception in this country, the whole sexual libertine idea,鈥 said Santorum, who has seven children. 鈥淢any in the 海角大神 faith have said, 鈥榃ell, that鈥檚 okay. Contraception鈥檚 okay.鈥 It鈥檚 not okay because it鈥檚 a license to do things in the sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.鈥
Sexual relationships 鈥渁re supposed to be within marriage. They are supposed to be for purposes that are, yes, conjugal and unitive but also procreative. That鈥檚 the perfect way that a sexual union should happen.
鈥淲e take any part of that out, we diminish the act. And if you can take one part out that鈥檚 not for purposes of procreation, that鈥檚 not one of the reasons, then you diminish this very special bond between men and women, so why can鈥檛 you take other parts of that out?
鈥淎nd all of a sudden, it becomes deconstructed to the point where it鈥檚 simply pleasure. And that鈥檚 certainly a part of it, and it鈥檚 an important part of it, don鈥檛 get me wrong, but there鈥檚 a lot of things we do for pleasure, and this is special, and it needs to be seen as special.鈥
