These students of Spellman College's all-girl Spelbots Robotics Team held a "Robot Dance Off," which briefly curtailed their ability to update their Facebook profiles.

Discussions during the blackout week prompted students to find common interests, and spawned a photography club and a diversity club. 鈥淚t prompted friendships between students that weren鈥檛 happening prior to the blackout,鈥 says professor Charles Palmer.

Professors noted that during in-person discussions, students quickly mastered a set of biology concepts that had confused them for weeks when discussed over social media.
