Final shuttle launch for Discovery: Was shuttle program worth it?

Feb. 24 will mark the last shuttle launch of Discovery, with the final flight of Endeavour to follow in April and 鈥 if there's enough money 鈥 Atlantis's last flight of the entire program in June. Here are five questions about what the shuttles have 鈥 and haven't 鈥 accomplished.

They are museum-bound. Dis颅cov颅ery is slated to replace the nonflying Enterprise at the Smithsonian In颅sti颅tu颅tion's Air and Space Museum's display facility near Dulles Inter颅na颅tion颅al Airport. Endeavour and Atlantis are up for grabs, with museums (and congressional delegations) from Seattle to New York vying to land one.
