I felt the house shake 鈥� the rain poured
The waves screamed 鈥�
The wind raged 鈥�
Nor'easter slammed the coast
I had nailed planks
Across the windows 鈥�
Like pirate patches
On blind men's eyes
I waited 鈥� the gallon jugs filled 鈥�
The shortwave tuned 鈥�
I checked the flashlight again
Spotlighting 鈥� a Gypsy Moth 鈥�
Caged 鈥� behind the screen
Bronze 鈥� against black glass
As the storm howled
Her wing tips 鈥� barely fluttered.
