Threads

A poem

Winter comes on like an old quilt.
Leaves wrinkle the lawn,
grass browns underneath.
The pattern begins as fall
turns to December,
then beyond,
until weeds return
to the flower bed,
little running stitches
to be ripped out
and redone year after year.
