Pet Perspectives

A poem.

Pet Perspectives听I)To Montecristo, a fine Aristotelian mutt,
听A bone is a bone, whatever the cut.
听When Montecristo is thrown the inevitable stick,
听He proceeds in a line with implacable logic.
听Every man in command, every dog on his lead,
听That's Montecristo's school, his canine-onical creed.

II)Melisande's a cat with a relative mind:
听When she chases the mice, she leaves them behind.
听Melisande's a cat in perplexing dimensions:
听She purrs on the lawn, but appears in the gentians.
听She stalks down the alley, but slinks up the stair:
听Yes, Melisande's a cat in all directions of where.
