Grammy Hall of Fame inductions latest honor for David Bowie and Prince

Music by artists including David Bowie, Prince, R.E.M., and Nirvana are some of the tracks and albums that will be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame's Class of 2017.听
Twenty five works in total 鈥 both songs and albums 鈥 will be added to the list of works already in the Grammy Hall of Fame, bringing the total to more than a thousand.听
Mr. Bowie鈥檚 鈥淐hanges,鈥 the album 鈥淪ign 鈥極鈥 the Times鈥 by Prince, 鈥淟osing My Religion鈥 by R.E.M., and 鈥淪mells Like Teen Spirit鈥 by Nirvana will join the Grammy Hall of Fame, as well as the album 鈥淪traight Outta Compton鈥 by N.W.A., 鈥淪moke on the Water鈥 by Deep Purple, 鈥淎BC鈥 by the Jackson 5, and 鈥淲hen the Saints Go Marching In鈥 by Louis Armstrong and his Orchestra.
The new inductions are the latest honor for artists Bowie and Prince, both of whom died earlier this year and who are both often cited as some of the most influential artists of all time. Bowie鈥檚 album 鈥淭he Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars鈥 was previously added to the Grammy Hall of Fame, while Bowie won the Grammy Award for best video, short form in 1985 for 鈥淛azzin' for Blue Jean.鈥 He won a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006.听
He had been nominated previously for multiple prizes, including album of the year for 鈥淟et鈥檚 Dance鈥 and best rock album for 鈥淭he Next Day.鈥澨
Prince has also been previously honored by the Recording Academy, the organization which distributes the Grammys. He won multiple Grammy Awards beginning in the 1980s, with his song 鈥淜iss鈥 winning the award for best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocal, and his album 鈥淧urple Rain鈥 being added to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2011.听
Like Bowie, Prince was nominated for many other Grammy Awards, including his album 鈥淧urple Rain鈥 being nominated for album of the year, and his track 鈥淣othing Compares 2 U鈥 being nominated for the song of the year prize.
