Brie Larson has won the Oscar for Best Actress for her work in the film 鈥淩oom.鈥澛�

Larson stars in 鈥淩oom鈥� as a young woman who was kidnapped and is now forced to live in a shed with her son.聽

Larson has also recently appeared in such movies as 鈥淭rainwreck鈥� as well as on the TV show 鈥淐ommunity.鈥�

After thanking the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences during her acceptance speech, Larson said, "I want to start big, because the thing that I love about moviemaking is how many people it takes to make it."

Monitor film critic Peter Rainer called the actress 鈥渆xtraordinarily good鈥� in her role in 鈥淩oom,鈥� also singling out the performance of Larson鈥檚 co-star Jacob Tremblay, who portrays her son. 鈥淲ith great delicacy, director Lenny Abrahamson brings us very deep inside the boy鈥檚 wide-eyed bafflements,鈥� Rainer wrote of the film.聽

鈥淩oom鈥� is adapted from the novel of the same name by Emma Donoghue.聽

As one might expect with the subject matter, the actress said the movie shoot was grueling at times.聽

鈥淚t was exhausting for the crew to shoot in so confined a space, and you could really feel the momentum in the room, of us all desperately wanting to get out,鈥� Larson said of the process. 鈥淭hat sense of confinement was real.鈥澛�

that he felt he needed to find someone who would be close to the actor playing her son.聽

鈥淲hen I met Brie, not only did you have an amazing actor, but you鈥檝e also got this really warm, really funny, really vibrant person,鈥� Abrahamson said. 鈥淭hey鈥檝e got to be silly together and they鈥檝e got to play. People can鈥檛 fake it with kids鈥�. Brie isn鈥檛 and Jake knew that.鈥�

In , Tremblay himself said of his acquaintance with Larson, 鈥淚 met her in a pizza place when we started filming the movie in Toronto. She was really, really awesome. I was first shy when I met her. But my mom said, 鈥楬ow about she comes over to play?鈥� So then she came over, and we鈥檙e best friends now.鈥�
