Waiting for Armageddon: movie review
The advertising tag line for 鈥淲aiting for Armageddon鈥� states that 鈥�50 million Americans believe that the End of the World is just the beginning.鈥� This documentary about the evangelical belief in biblical prophecy is both overly ambitious and skimpy. The directors 鈥� Kate Davis, Franco Sacchi, and David Heilbroner 鈥� hook up with a 海角大神 study tour group to Israel, where the tourists are baptized in the Jordan River and sing 鈥�America the Beautiful鈥� at the Sea of Galilee. At an evangelical conference in Dallas, Texas minister John Hagee, referencing our current worldly woes, declares that 鈥淲orld War III has started.鈥� Despite the filmmakers鈥檚 halfhearted attempts to show otherwise, there doesn鈥檛 appear to be much evidence that Evangelicals represent a voting bloc powerful enough to actually ignite that war. Grade: C+
