'X-Men: Apocalypse': Here's the character Kodi Smit-McPhee will be playing

According to 鈥X-Men: Apocalypse鈥 director Bryan Singer, actor Kodi Smit-McPhee is joining the cast.
Singer posted on that Smit-McPhee will portray the 鈥淴-Men鈥 character Nightcrawler, a role that was previously taken on by 鈥淐abaret鈥 actor Alan Cumming.听
Smit-McPhee has previously appeared in such films as the 2014 movie 鈥淒awn of the Planet of the Apes,鈥 the 2013 film 鈥淩omeo & Juliet,鈥 and the 2012 animated movie 鈥ParaNorman.鈥澛
It was previously announced that 鈥Game of Thrones鈥 actress Sophie Turner will be playing a young Jean Grey in 鈥淎pocalypse,鈥 while 鈥Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B鈥 actress Alexandra Shipp will be portraying the character of Storm and 鈥The Tree of Life鈥 actor Tye Sheridan will play Cyclops.
The last 鈥淴-Men鈥 film, 鈥淴-Men: Days of Future Past,鈥 was released this summer and became the ninth-highest-grossing film of 2014, according to the website . Monitor film critic Peter Rainer gave "Future" a B+ grade, writing of the film, 鈥淲hat elevates this film above most of its predecessors is the dynamic聽action filmmaking and, above all, its wit鈥 I couldn鈥檛 follow many of the ins and outs of the time-travel scenario,聽and I鈥檓 not altogether sure that the filmmakers could, either. It doesn鈥檛 really聽matter. It鈥檚 enough that the movie is fun.鈥
The current iteration of the 鈥淴-Men鈥 franchise started with the 2011 film 鈥X-Men: First Class,鈥 which starred James McAvoy as Professor Xavier (a role originally taken on by actor Patrick Stewart), Michael Fassbender as Magneto (the part first played by actor Ian McKellan), and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique (first played by Rebecca Romijn) and took place in the 1960s. 鈥淔uture鈥 took place in both the present and the 1970s and so starred McAvoy, Fassbender, Lawrence, Stewart, and McKellan.
鈥淎pocalypse鈥 is set to be released in 2016 and according to the website , 鈥淎 Most Violent Year鈥 actor Oscar Isaac is set to star as the villain Apocalypse.
