Here's when the fifth season of 'Game of Thrones' will premiere

HBO has set the date for the debut of the fifth season of its smash hit fantasy series 鈥�Game of Thrones.鈥�
鈥淭hrones鈥� will debut on April 12, sticking to its previous schedule of airing on Sunday nights. According to , the new season will consist of 10 episodes.聽
According to , showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff said the upcoming season will include looks back at previous events. 鈥淢aking the first season, we set a rule: No prophecies, dreams, or flashbacks,鈥� they said in a quote attributed to both of them. 鈥淲e already failed the first two, and this season we broke the third. So yes, this season will finally have flashbacks.鈥�

As noted by the , actor Charles Dance, whose powerful patriarch Tywin Lannister died in the fourth season finale, dropped a hint in an interview that he could return to the show. 鈥淚鈥檓 not completely missing out on the next [season],鈥� the actor told . 鈥淢ore than that, I鈥檓 not going to say. You haven鈥檛 seen the last of Tywin Lannister, is all I鈥檒l say.鈥�
The network also recently announced that the final two episodes in the fantasy drama鈥檚 fourth season as well as a never-before-seen trailer will come to IMAX theaters later this month. The episodes that will be screened in theaters includes the ninth episode of the fourth season, 鈥淭he Watchers on the Wall,鈥� which was an action-packed installment following Jon Snow, a member of the fighting force the Night鈥檚 Watch, and his efforts as well as those of his comrades to repel an invasion from the wildlings.
鈥淭hrones鈥� takes place in the imaginary country of Westeros and details the struggle for power between various factions, including the Lannister family (members include Peter Dinklage鈥檚 Tyrion Lannister, Lena Headey鈥檚 former queen Cersei, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau鈥檚 warrior Jaime), exiled heir to the throne Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), and the remaining members of the powerful Stark family, including Arya (Maisie Williams).
The series is based on the 鈥�Song of Ice and Fire鈥� books by George R.R. Martin. Martin published the most recent installment, 鈥�A Dance with Dragons,鈥� in 2011.
